FAQ

What can I expect when I reach out?

When you contact me, we begin with a free 20-minute consultation where we talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to explore, and what questions you would like answered. If you decide to continue, we schedule your first full session in person or online. From there, we move at a pace that feels steady and comfortable for you, focusing on your wellbeing, your goals, and your healing. You do not need to have anything figured out before reaching out. This is simply a place to begin.

Do I need a referral to start therapy?

No referral is required. You can contact me at any time to begin the process. Many people start therapy without knowing exactly what they need, and that is completely normal. Part of our early conversations will involve clarifying what feels most important for you right now.

How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?

Most sessions are sixty minutes in length. Some people prefer weekly sessions, while others choose to meet every two weeks. Together, we will decide on a schedule that feels supportive and manageable for your needs.

What if I have never been to therapy before?

You do not need to know what to say or how therapy works. Many people begin therapy feeling uncertain or nervous, and that is completely understandable. My role is to help you feel comfortable and supported while you learn what feels right for you. We begin with simple conversations and move gradually.

What if I am not sure I want long term therapy?

You do not need to make that decision right away. The consultation and early sessions help you understand what feels helpful and what direction you may want to take. Therapy is flexible, and you can decide at any point whether you want shorter term support or deeper, ongoing work. You can also decide at any point in time to end sessions.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential with the exception of specific situations required by law, such as immediate safety concerns. During your first session, we will talk through confidentiality so you clearly understand your rights and the limits of confidentiality.

What if I need immediate or crisis support?

If you are in crisis or do not feel safe, it is important to reach immediate help. I do not provide emergency supports. Here are some of the available supports:

If you’re in crisis or need immediate help, please reach out for 24-hour support:

  • Call 911 if you are in danger or need urgent assistance.
  • Reach Out 24/7 (London/Middlesex): 1-866-933-2023
  • Talk Suicide Canada: 1-833-456-4566

Therapy is not an emergency service. If you’re in crisis, please use the supports above or go to your nearest emergency department.
